VPN vs proxy: the difference
A VPN and a proxy both change your visible IP, but protect you differently. The key difference is encryption and covering all device traffic.

How a proxy works
A proxy routes one app's traffic (usually the browser) through itself and swaps the IP. But most proxies don't encrypt, so your ISP and Wi-Fi owner still see what you send. Other apps go direct.
How a VPN works

What to choose
